Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT)


Position Announcement: Director of Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT), Thammasat University (TU)

The SIIT-Director Search Committee is pleased to announce an opening of a position for the Director of Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT), Thammasat University (TU), located in Pathum-Thani, Thailand. The SIIT administers undergraduate and graduate academic schools in Engineering and Technology in the international environment. This includes courses and independent research projects.

Terms of reference for an SIIT Director

Qualifications:

  • Hold a doctoral degree from a well-known leading university major in an equivalent program presently offered by SIIT.
  • Hold an academic rank of a professor through a standard system.
  • Experience in teaching, research, academic services in undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Experience in administration of an academic institute related to engineering and technology in the international environments.
  • Uphold high principles of morality and ethics.
  • Healthy both physically and mentally.
  • Able to work full-time for SIIT.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage the standards of learning, teaching, research and development of SIIT to exceed those guided by the Commission on Higher Education, Ministry of Educations, or those guided by the Office for National Education Standards and Quality Assessment
  • Transparently manage and monitor the finance, accounting, material & supplies and other internal controls according to SIIT rules and regulations.
  • Manage and monitor human resources according to SIIT rules and regulations.
  • Create and maintain high reputations of SIIT in the society of international learning.
  • If time is available, SIIT director may wish to supervise not more than one
    postgraduate student at a time. The next postgraduate student may be supervised only after the graduation of the previous one.
  • If time is available, SIIT director may wish to teach not more than 3 credits of teaching in an academic year.
  • Be responsible for other specific assignments directed by the SIIT Board of Trustees or the SIIT Academic Review Committee.
  • Develop the SIIT alumni networks and solidly enhance a closer relationship between the alumni networks and SIIT.

Contract Length and Assessments:

  • The contract will have a term of 3 years.
  • There will be two assessments. The first assessment will take place around the midway of the contract term. The second assessment will be around the end of the contract term. Both assessment will be basically based on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), which are approved by the Board of Trustees.
  • The contract may be renewed no more than two consecutive terms by the review of the Board of Trustees.

Remunerations:

  • Taxable salary for an executive position in an international academic institute.
  • Welfares according to SIIT rules and regulations.
  • An executive car and a driver (fuel is excluded).

The Director reports to the SIIT Board of Trustees.
